Creating a Shared Vision for Personalized Competency-based Learning

Dysart Unified School District partnered with BloomBoard to address a districtwide need for more personalized professional learning that could support teacher growth, improve retention, and align with its goal of helping every student graduate college and career ready. The district wanted a program that would let educators pursue learning paths based on their interests while also providing a way to recognize and reward professional advancement.

BloomBoard helped DUSD launch a customized professional learning program called Dysart U, built around micro-credentials tied to personalized learning competencies and salary-step incentives. The pilot launched in March 2017 and enrolled 90 participants; about 60% earned at least one micro-credential, and three educators completed Phase 1 by earning 15 micro-credentials. Through BloomBoard, educators can earn up to an 8% raise, learn at their own pace, and receive ongoing support throughout the program.
