Medtronic Powers California R&D Campus with Bloom Energy

Medtronic, a global leader in medical technology, sought to reduce energy costs and its environmental impact at its Santa Rosa, California R&D campus while meeting its corporate carbon reduction goals. The company turned to Bloom Energy and its fuel cell technology for a more reliable and sustainable energy solution.

Bloom Energy implemented its on-site Energy Servers, which use an efficient, non-combustion process to convert natural gas into electricity. The 400 kW system now provides 96% of the building's power, dramatically increasing on-site generation. The solution from Bloom Energy is projected to save Medtronic $2.3 million over 15 years, reduce carbon emissions by 19%, and save 3 million gallons of water annually.
