A Reliable Solution for Delmarva Power

Bloom Energy implemented a project for utility company Delmarva Power to help enhance its renewable portfolio. The challenge was to add clean and reliable baseload power generation at a competitive cost while also bringing innovation and jobs to Delaware.

The solution involved Bloom Energy Servers in a 3MW installation at a Delmarva Power substation, which is the first phase of a larger 30MW project. The results have been strong, with the system generating clean power continuously since its 2012 commissioning. A key demonstration of its reliability was that it operated without interruption through Hurricane Sandy, continuing to feed power to the regional grid. Bloom Energy successfully delivered a resilient power generation solution.
