MVV Industriepark Gersthofen uses Blickfeld’s 3 LiDAR sensors to monitor waste bunkers in real time

MVV Industriepark Gersthofen GmbH faced a challenge in safely monitoring the volume of waste in its bunker and detecting hazardous material accumulations, known as cornices. Their previous manual method using a crane scale and cameras was inaccurate, increased operational effort and crane wear, and posed a significant safety risk. To address this, they partnered with Blickfeld to implement a LiDAR-based monitoring solution.

Blickfeld's solution utilized three Cube 1 LiDAR sensors and perception software to generate a precise, real-time 3D point cloud of the bunker. This provided MVV with accurate volume data and a dashboard for visualization, enabling effective inventory control and space planning. Crucially, the system includes alarm logic that triggers when material accumulations exceed a threshold, allowing for proactive intervention to prevent collapses and potential damage. This has significantly improved safety and operational efficiency for the customer.
