Cireco improves waste inventory monitoring with Blickfeld using 3 LiDAR sensors

Cireco, a leading company for complete resource management in Scotland, faced a challenge in accurately monitoring the volume of waste in its material recovery facility storage bunkers. The company previously relied on weighbridge data and visual estimations, which led to unavoidable deviations and an inability to fully utilize its total storage and plant capacity. To address this, Cireco worked with vendor Blickfeld to implement an automated monitoring solution using Cube 1 LiDAR sensors.

Blickfeld's solution involved installing three LiDAR sensors on the ceiling to continuously generate 3D data and calculate the volume of waste in the bunkers down to the ton. This provided Cireco with on-demand, accurate, and reliable data, replacing the need for manual estimation. The results included improved planning and utilization of the facility, optimized internal logistics, and increased accounting accuracy, enabling the company to leverage more storage capacity. Due to this success, Cireco is expanding the Blickfeld sensor system to a second site.
