Education Development Center launches 3-4 day science inquiry modules with Blenderbox

Education Development Center (EDC) needed to adapt its successful Zoom In history learning platform to support STEM education, specifically to build student data literacy in biology and earth science using real data sets. This challenge was undertaken by the vendor, Blenderbox, to create a new teaching platform funded by the National Science Foundation.

Blenderbox implemented the Zoom In Science platform, which features standards-aligned, blended learning modules that integrate a data modeling tool called CODAP. The solution provides a real-time dashboard for teachers to monitor student progress and give feedback, and it allows students to analyze data, debate findings, and write evidence-based arguments. According to a teacher, the platform successfully made working with complex data less intimidating for students, significantly improving their comfort and skills.
