Baxter Credit Union (BCU), a Chicago-based not-for-profit serving over $6B in assets, faced a digital transformation challenge: as member applications shifted from 30% to 70% post-pandemic, BCU needed to improve its digital deposit account opening experience to drive member relationships and scale deposits. To meet this goal, BCU partnered with Blend, leveraging Blend’s technology and Blend Builder to create mobile-friendly, purpose-built customer journeys.
Blend implemented features like Save and Resume, Identity Verification, and integrations with partners (Alloy for fraud prevention and Astra for instant deposits) to streamline onboarding. The results: start-to-submit rates more than doubled (31% to 66%), conversion rates rose from 40% to 60%, funding increased (funding up from 20% to 40%), automation is trending at ~85%, and account closures due to fraud fell—90% of accounts remained open year-over-year (97% in July 2024). Blend’s solutions materially boosted BCU’s digital deposit performance and member experience.
