Yle Gets Ready for Record Election Day Traffic with BlazeMeter

Yle, Finland’s national public broadcaster (about 3,200 employees), needed to ensure its complex election results service could withstand record Election Day traffic — a site that regenerates thousands of pages multiple times and drives millions of database transactions. Preparing for massive concurrent users and near-real-time prediction updates required large-scale distributed load testing beyond Yle’s on-site environment.

Working with Tieto, Yle used BlazeMeter’s JMeter-compatible cloud platform to run nine large-scale test rounds (60 engines, ~9,600 virtual users), which exposed major bottlenecks and drove architectural and configuration fixes. Tests produced peaks of 2,351 page views/sec with ~2.5s page responses; on Election Day the site handled ~700,000 visitors, 15–20 million page views and a 124,000-user peak without issues.
