Case Study: Grindr achieves faster releases, zero downtime and major hosting savings with BlazeMeter

A BlazeMeter Case Study

Preview of the Grindr Case Study

How Grindr Uses BlazeMeter to Speed Innovation and Ensure Outstanding Application Performance

Grindr, the world’s largest gay social network for men with millions of monthly users across ~200 countries, needed to make performance testing part of its Continuous Delivery pipeline so new builds wouldn’t degrade service for millions of users. Their challenge was to run scalable load tests early in development, benchmark and predict performance changes, detect deficiencies before production, and support multiple protocols (HTTP and XMPP) while keeping releases frequent and reliable.

Grindr uses JMeter together with BlazeMeter to run high-scale, protocol-aware tests that simulate real usage and provide actionable reports. As a result they now support 1.2 million peak users with two daily peaks, increased public releases from 2–3 to 12–15 per month within six months, eliminated downtime during deployments, and reduced infrastructure costs substantially—enabling a platform migration (to Amazon) and tens of thousands in hosting savings.
