AfB Group, a nonprofit social enterprise that refurbishes used IT hardware, faced the challenge of securely erasing sensitive customer data from a high volume of devices. To protect consumer privacy and meet rigorous European and global data sanitization regulations, they required a certified and comprehensive data erasure solution. They partnered with vendor Blancco and use Blancco Data Eraser software as a core part of their process.

The solution from Blancco provided certified data erasure across various storage types, including SSDs, mobiles, and laptops, and generated a tamper-proof audit report for each device. The integration via an API allowed erasure reports to be automatically fed into AfB's ERP system for customer access. This partnership yielded significant measurable impact, with AfB consuming 175,000-200,000 Blancco licenses in 2017 and expecting 20-30% growth in 2018, while processing over 300,000 used appliances annually.
