Streamlining Accounting Processes Across 40 Businesses

Ruralco is a listed Australian agribusiness with about 40 specialist operations, 1,900 employees and over 500 retail outlets, covering merchandise, fertilizer, livestock, real estate and financial services. Rapid expansion through acquisitions left financial processes decentralized: reconciliations were done on paper or in spreadsheets, manually uploaded to SAP and emailed to head office, creating poor visibility, slow close cycles and heightened risk of errors and omissions.

Ruralco implemented BlackLine’s cloud-based Reconciliation Management and Task Management modules integrated with SAP, going live across the group in September 2015. The platform standardized and centralized reconciliations, streamlined workflows and approvals, enabled task reassignment and auditor access, and delivered real-time visibility for the CFO—resulting in improved governance, significant time savings in reconciliation preparation and easier onboarding of newly acquired businesses.
