Aviva Canada, a leading property and casualty insurer serving over three million customers with more than 3,000 employees and numerous broker partners, faced a highly manual and costly month-end reconciliation process: more than 1,800 GL accounts across multiple legal entities required reconciliation, consuming about 50 team members who spent much of their time matching and validating data in Excel and lacked centralized visibility.
By implementing BlackLine’s account reconciliations solution—integrated with Oracle and requiring minimal IT support—Aviva automated matching, introduced a single repository and dashboards, and auto-certified 66% of reconciliations. The change saved roughly $9K in 2014 (with projected savings of $86K in 2015), reduced non-value-added work, improved customer service and visibility, and freed finance staff to focus on analysis and higher-value tasks.
