How Tate & Lyle "Makes Food Extraordinary" with Improved Finance Functions

Tate & Lyle, a global specialty food-ingredients company, centralized its finance operations as part of an SAP ERP consolidation and set up a shared-services center in Łódź. That shift exposed a patchwork of regional, spreadsheet- and paper-based account-reconciliation processes that hindered oversight, consumed large amounts of administrative time, and made month‑end close and auditability inefficient.

To address this, the company implemented BlackLine’s Account Reconciliations and Task Management applications integrated with SAP, redesigned processes, and established clear preparer/approver roles and a common chart of accounts. The change eliminated manual spreadsheets and paper signatures, enabled electronic approvals and auto‑certification, improved visibility into the month‑end close, boosted accuracy and efficiency, and freed finance staff to focus on higher‑value analysis.
