eBay, a global commerce leader handling tens of billions in annual transactions and more than 100 legal entities, was hampered by a mostly manual, paper-based account-reconciliation process. Month-end close routinely took up to 10 days as staff chased supporting documents across off-site storage, time zones, and languages for roughly 10,000 monthly reconciliations (about 1,600 of them audit‑critical), creating delays and heavy administrative burden.

eBay integrated its SAP ERP with BlackLine’s Account Reconciliations, Journal Entry, and Task Management modules and migrated to BlackLine’s OnDemand SaaS, centralizing repeatable reconciliations and training regional administrators. The implementation (handling ~10,000 reconciliations, 17,000 journal entries and thousands of tasks) cut the financial close to three days, delivered global visibility and auditor self‑service, strengthened SOX controls, and eliminated much of the manual work.
