Case Study: Daylight Transport cuts close time in half and gains an FTE with BlackLine

A BlackLine Case Study

Preview of the Daylight Case Study

Cutting Close Time in Half & Gaining an FTE Without an Increase in Headcount

Daylight Transport, a privately held expedited LTL carrier founded in 1977 and based in Cypress, CA, was struggling with a highly manual month-end process. The finance team processed roughly 2,500 invoices daily and spent an entire month reconciling the bank statement, producing a soft six-day close and growing complexity as the company expanded.

To address this, Daylight implemented BlackLine’s Transaction Matching, Account Reconciliations, and Journal Entry solutions with integration to TruckMate and Oracle Fusion. The automation enabled a three-day hard close, freed up the equivalent of nearly one FTE without increasing headcount (one accountant now spends 15–20 minutes daily on exceptions), shifted staff to value-added work, reduced errors, and provided near real-time visibility with balances updated every two hours.
