Australian Unity Reconciles Its Account Balances with BlackLine

Australian Unity is a 175‑year‑old Australian mutual providing health, wealth and living services to about one million members through 100+ legal entities and some 7,500 employees. The finance function was fragmented across entities, with reconciliations done inconsistently in spreadsheets and paper, leaving the CFO with limited visibility into timeliness, frequency and quality of account reconciliations and creating audit and efficiency risks.

To fix this, Australian Unity centralized its financial control function and rolled out BlackLine Account Reconciliations (implemented in phased stages with Forpoint Solutions and integrated to its SunSystems ERP). The move consolidated all reconciliations into BlackLine — now completing ~3,100 reconciliations monthly across thousands of GL combinations — improving governance, reporting and documentation (auto‑certification, tighter substantiation, chart‑of‑accounts rationalization) and delivering measurable time and cost savings that are expected to grow.
