Oil Sands Operation in Northern Alberta gets emergency help in minutes with Blackline Safety

The customer, an oil sands operation in northern Alberta, faced the challenge of protecting lone workers like welders during hazardous maintenance turnarounds, where falls and injuries are common and immediate help can be difficult to summon. To address this, they employed safety wearables from vendor Blackline Safety, specifically the G7 Lone Worker device.

Blackline Safety's solution provided the worker with a wearable device featuring an emergency SOS latch, which was monitored 24/7 by their Safety Operations Centre (SOC). When a welder fell and dislocated his shoulder, he triggered the SOS, and the SOC agent immediately coordinated the emergency response by contacting onsite medical and his supervisor while providing his precise location. The result was that help arrived within minutes, demonstrating the system's effectiveness in ensuring a rapid emergency response and protecting worker safety.
