Case Study: Northumbrian Water Group improves worker safety and efficiency with Blackline Safety

A Blackline Safety Case Study

Preview of the Northumbrian Water Group (NWG) Case Study

Northumbrian Water Group detects 75% explosive-limit gas risk with Blackline Safety

Northumbrian Water Group (NWG) faced significant safety challenges across its diverse worksites, including hazardous gas exposure and lone worker risks. Their existing equipment, comprising separate gas monitors and mobile phones, had limitations like cross-sensitivity issues, the need for off-site calibration, and ignition hazards. NWG partnered with vendor Blackline Safety to find an all-in-one solution to improve both safety and operational efficiency.

Blackline Safety implemented a trial of its G7c personal gas monitors and EXO area monitors. This solution provided multi-gas detection with on-site calibration, reliable push-to-talk communication, and lone worker connectivity. The results included the immediate identification and mitigation of a previously unknown hazardous area that had reached 75% of its explosive limit. NWG also achieved reduced operational downtime, better device adoption due to ease of use, and valuable analytical insights from the data.
