Case Study: Major U.S. city fire department achieves real-time hazmat visibility and faster response with Blackline Safety

A Blackline Safety Case Study

Preview of the Major US City Case Study

How an urban fire department in the U.S. used Blackline Safety technology to respond to a dangerous ammonia leak with speed and precision

Major US City’s hazmat team faced a fast‑escalating ammonia leak at a cold storage facility and needed rapid, remote situational awareness to protect responders and coordinate command — including an off‑duty fire chief who was miles away. They trialed Blackline Safety’s connected gas detection tools, deploying a G7 EXO area monitor and G7 personal multi‑gas detector (G7c) to determine hazard levels and send alerts.

Blackline Safety’s G7 EXO and G7c connected via cellular and GPS to deliver real‑time gas readings and location data to the command center and chief, enabling remote monitoring and informed decision‑making. The devices registered 46 total alerts, including 18 high‑gas exposures, were deployed in minutes, helped resolve the leak quickly, reduced responder risk, and freed firefighters to immediately handle another emergency.
