A Blackline Safety Case Study

Preview of the Enmax Case Study

Enmax - Customer Case Study

Enmax, a Calgary-based utility provider that operates teams of field Meter Readers, faced significant safety risks from slips, falls and customer interactions and lacked a reliable way to detect or locate incapacitated workers; their phone-in check-in system could leave someone unaccounted for for up to 90 minutes. Enmax engaged Blackline Safety to develop a purpose-built solution, resulting in the creation and testing of the Loner GPS device.

Blackline Safety deployed Loner GPS devices—featuring an emergency key, a no-motion sensor (configured to 2 minutes), automated check-in queues, 15-minute location reporting and the Loner Portal with email/SMS alerts and escalation—to monitor Meter Readers in real time. The solution delivered proactive, connected monitoring, restored time lost to manual phone-ins, met working-alone legislation, and reduced time to get assistance from as much as 90 minutes to roughly 10 minutes, significantly improving the likelihood of life-saving intervention.
