Cemex Provides Peace of Mind for Lone Night Drivers

CEMEX, a major building materials supplier whose UK night drivers deliver thousands of tonnes each week, needed a robust way to protect lone drivers travelling hundreds of miles to unmanned sites at night. Their previous process relied on drivers phoning in to confirm safety, leaving no way to detect falls or rapid incidents. CEMEX partnered with Blackline Safety, initially deploying 50 Loner SMD units and later upgrading to the G7c lone worker solution.

Blackline Safety implemented 70 G7c units with indoor location beacons and cloud-hosted monitoring (fall/no-motion detection, SOS latch, two-way voice and messaging), with live safety monitoring managed by CEMEX control rooms. The upgrade gave CEMEX rapid, seconds-level location visibility—indoors and out—improving response capability and delivering measurable peace of mind for both management and drivers. Blackline Safety’s technology has become the company’s primary lone-worker safety system across its UK sites.
