Leading Fresh Food Distributor needed a better way to improve driver safety because its existing safe driver program was ineffective. The annual cash bonus was not motivating enough to change day-to-day behavior, so participation was low and accidents were not improving. The company worked with Blackhawk Network and GoPivot to modernize the program using DriveCam technology and a more engaging rewards approach.

Blackhawk Network helped implement a points-based rewards program that recognized safe driving as it happened and let drivers redeem points quickly in an online rewards mall for gift cards, merchandise, travel, and event tickets. Supervisors could also award scratch-off cards for positive behaviors. The results were strong: participation reached 100%, 85% of drivers earned their full reward each month, 50% redeemed points, accidents or incidents fell 13%, unsafe driving behaviors dropped 15%, and the program generated more than 29 million points and 1,029 redemptions.
