How Panda Express saw 70% growth in its gift card programs

Panda Express, the American Chinese restaurant chain with more than 2,300 locations, wanted to extend its long-running gift card program into digital eGifts during 2020 without disrupting store operations or the guest experience. To do that, it worked with Blackhawk Network, which had already been its gift card partner, to help plan the transition and identify the right strategy for growth.

Blackhawk Network expanded Panda Express’s program to include eGifts and supported integration across in-store and digital channels for a seamless purchase and redemption experience. The result was strong adoption and better visibility into customer behavior, with the overall gift card program growing by almost 70% since 2018 and digital promotions outperforming industry redemption benchmarks.
