World’s Largest Manufacturers of Industrial Machinery - Customer Case Study

A multinational industrial machinery manufacturer’s large U.S. facility struggled with slow, unreliable emergency reporting: the safety manager had to verify incidents in person, so if they were absent a crisis could go unnoticed or escalate while staff scrambled across the 400,000 m² site. A past fire highlighted the problem—no one knew what was happening until an external call—and the existing process left employees and first responders without timely, accurate situational awareness.

The plant deployed BlackBerry AtHoc, installing 25 cloud‑connected “panic boxes,” desktop and mobile alerting, geo-mapped incident locations, and two‑way employee accounting. The intuitive system reached 97% employee buy‑in, enabled organized procedures (muster points, safety cart, regular drills), and cut expected response times from about 15 minutes to roughly 5–7 minutes, with plans to expand the solution to other sites.
