Case Study: Spirit of Math secures its proprietary curriculum and streamlines updates with BlackBerry Workspaces

A BlackBerry Case Study

Preview of the Spirit of Math Case Study

With BlackBerry Workspaces, This International Teaching Organization Ensures Its Lessons Are One Of A Kind

Spirit of Math is a Toronto‑based supplemental education program that teaches advanced math to high‑performing students in grades 1–11 across nearly 40 campuses. As the company expanded internationally it faced a costly and cumbersome print process for its proprietary 39‑week curriculum and a serious risk of intellectual‑property theft if materials were distributed digitally without tight controls. Leadership needed a way to update and distribute lessons frequently while maintaining strict access control and auditability.

Spirit of Math deployed BlackBerry Workspaces to selected campuses (including new locations in Pakistan) and to specific Toronto classes, giving teachers secure, device‑agnostic access to PDF lesson materials with permissions that prevent printing, editing or unauthorized sharing and allow IT to revoke access if needed. The result: faster, cheaper curriculum updates without mass reprinting, stronger protection and visibility over intellectual property through logging and reporting, and safe options for limited external sharing — with plans to extend the solution organization‑wide.
