Banesco Banco Universal is one of Venezuela’s largest banks with 500 branches, 14,000 employees and operations across Latin America and the U.S. Facing low adoption of online banking, long branch wait times and rising operational costs, Banesco needed a way to differentiate its services and move routine transactions away from physical branches.
Banesco launched BanescoMóvil, a BlackBerry smartphone and PlayBook app developed with Synergy Global Business, enabling customers to check balances, view statements, transfer funds and pay bills (including other banks’ cards) and receive SMS alerts and promotions. The app increased remote transactions, eased branch and call-center congestion, improved customer convenience and engagement, and boosted uptake of special offers.
