A BlackBerry Case Study
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) in Wales, which employs more than 13,000 staff and serves over 639,000 residents, needed faster, secure mobile communication to coordinate care across hospitals and in-home settings. With clinicians frequently away from desks, the organization faced delays in case management, shift coordination and emergency response, while also needing to protect confidential patient records and control IT costs.
ABUHB issued BlackBerry 10 smartphones, upgraded to BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 (BES10) to manage BYOD and COPE devices, and piloted BBM Protected for encrypted messaging. The single EMM reduced management overhead and training needs, enabled remote support, improved staff productivity and access to patient records on the move, and delivered cost savings and stronger data security—allowing clinicians to focus more on patient care and free up hospital capacity.
