Case Study: UNISON achieves a secure, GDPR-ready mobile workforce with BlackBerry

A BlackBerry Case Study

Preview of the UNISON Case Study

UK Trade Union Works with BlackBerry for its Mobility Needs

UNISON, the UK’s second-largest trade union representing about 1.3 million members and some 1,300 staff, needed a practical way to keep a largely mobile workforce productive while protecting highly sensitive member data. With roughly half its staff frequently out of the office and reluctant to carry laptops, the organisation sought a handset-based solution that would deliver email, calendar and intranet access without compromising GDPR obligations or data security.

Building on a long BlackBerry relationship and with help from partner Appurity, UNISON deployed the BlackBerry Enterprise Mobility Suite – Collaboration Edition (including BlackBerry UEM, BlackBerry Work and Secure Connect Plus) across roughly 1,100 Android devices. The rollout gave IT full visibility and control of endpoints for regulatory compliance, secure VPN-less access to corporate systems, and a familiar, easy-to-manage platform that supports both COPE and BYOD users—boosting field productivity while maintaining strong data protection.
