Case Study: McIntyre Group achieves streamlined payroll and 16% lower administrative costs with BlackBerry

A BlackBerry Case Study

Office furniture and retail fixture installer uses BlackBerry smartphones and Near Field Communication (NFC) to help streamline work orders and save money

McIntyre Group Office Services Inc., a Canadian office furniture and retail fixture installer with about 130 employees, was hampered by a fragmented, paper-heavy job tracking system that relied on manual time sheets and multiple data entries. The hybrid process produced frequent errors, high administrative and IT overhead, and made it difficult to align payroll with job costing or determine true project profitability.

To fix this, McIntyre deployed more than 80 BlackBerry smartphones with NFC key fobs and Soluteo’s Field Force Automation app to integrate quoting, scheduling, time capture, photo documentation and completion reporting into a single workflow. The NFC time stamps and mobile reporting greatly reduced human error, improved customer communication, sped invoicing and decision-making, cut administrative costs by 16% (saving over $450,000), and delivered a more accurate picture of payroll and job costing.
