China COSCO Holdings Company Limited (COSCO) is a Beijing‑based, Forbes Global 2000 shipping, logistics and shipbuilding company with regional offices around the world. As managers and executives frequently traveled overseas, limited, unreliable access to corporate systems from laptops prevented timely document approvals and customer responses, causing delays in decision‑making; COSCO therefore needed a secure mobile solution that integrated with its existing IT infrastructure.

COSCO deployed the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and equipped 200 senior managers with BlackBerry smartphones, supplemented by a custom office‑automation app and active push notifications that synced with the company’s systems. The solution let executives leave laptops behind while maintaining secure access to email, documents, calendars and approvals, enabled IT to enforce policies and push updates remotely, and delivered faster access to information, lower IT management costs and improved ability to handle inquiries on the road.
