Mobile Lawyers Use Personal Phones, Tablets and Watches with World-class Security

A global law firm with more than 3,000 employees needed a way to let lawyers work from clients’ offices, courtrooms, airports and home while meeting strict contractual and audit-driven confidentiality requirements. Lawyers wanted to use personal smartphones, tablets and wearables (BB10, Android, iOS), but the firm needed a secure BYOD solution to protect client data on devices and in transit without disrupting productivity.

The firm deployed BlackBerry Enterprise Mobility Suite (Collaboration Edition) and BlackBerry Work, using encrypted work containers, selective remote wipe, and a secure app ecosystem (GoodReader, iAnnotate, InTapp Time, Office editing, secure printing and wearable notifications), plus Premium Support Services. The result: lawyers can access, annotate and edit documents and receive case alerts on any device with confidence, while IT shifted from device management to app management, cut support time (an estimated 2–7 hours saved per day) and met client security and compliance demands.
