Rock 101 is a classic-rock radio station in Mexico that reinvented itself from an FM broadcaster into an internet streaming platform, building more than 200,000 monthly listeners with an average growth of 8% per month. Management recognized that desktop streaming limited reach and wanted to capture a younger, mobile-savvy audience to increase listener engagement and advertising revenue.
To do that, Rock 101 launched a BlackBerry smartphone app developed by TR3SCO™, offering live streaming and integrated social features (Twitter, Facebook) so listeners can interact with DJs and each other anywhere. The app boosted mobile listening, expanded the station’s audience geographically and demographically, increased social engagement and loyalty, and helped attract new advertisers and business opportunities.
