A BlackBerry Case Study
Aegon Sony Life Insurance Company (ASLIC) is a Japan-based joint venture focused on annuity products with a largely mobile sales force. The company had relied on Microsoft Exchange and basic iPhone apps but its desktop-virtualization–driven approach prevented direct app downloads, forcing IT to collect devices for updates, creating version gaps, heavy operational overhead, and potential confidentiality risks.
ASLIC deployed BlackBerry UEM (with ShinMaywa Soft Technologies) to support both iOS and Android, enable an approved app store and over‑the‑air updates, and centralize management. The change cut infrastructure from seven servers to one, reduced hardware and operating costs, improved update speed and responsiveness, and strengthened information security and usability — with plans to extend capabilities using BlackBerry Workspaces.
