Weldom, a French DIY retailer with 265 stores (20 fully owned “integrated” stores), needed a way to improve mobile communication and customer service for staff who don’t have desks. Store managers had to respond quickly to deliveries, stock transfers and customer orders, but lacked real-time access to inventory and efficient ways to collaborate across stores.

Weldom issued BlackBerry smartphones to 490 employees and deployed mobile sales and inventory apps developed by ID2I, plus BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) for team and cross-store communities. The result was faster decisions and better customer service through instant access to stock and colleagues, increased knowledge-sharing (including photo-based merchandising), stronger teamwork and a more convivial workplace — benefits Weldom is now expanding with further apps.
