Document Management And Services Provider Sees Blackberry 10 As Springboard For The Future

Ricoh Canada, a large services-led subsidiary of Ricoh Americas with more than 2,100 employees and 45 locations, needed to modernize its mobile field operations while protecting data integrity in a growing BYOD environment. The IT team also wanted to port a recently developed Field Service Automation app to the new BlackBerry 10 platform and ensure secure, manageable access for over 1,000 company smartphones.

Ricoh evaluated and adopted BlackBerry 10 devices with BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 and BlackBerry Balance to separate work and personal data. Tests showed a strong touch experience, Hub multitasking and reliable app performance; the Field Service Automation app worked well on BlackBerry 10 and will be migrated (with planned features like barcode scanning), enabling secure device management, streamlined field workflows (dispatch, GPS, inventory, time tracking) and ERP integration to improve efficiency and productivity.
