A BlackBerry Case Study
Banco de la Provincia de Córdoba, a large Argentine bank with over 150 branches and 3,200 employees, faced delays and reduced productivity because senior managers and field staff spent much of their time away from the office without access to email, documents, intranet or vendor information. Limited interaction across business units and the inability to supervise branch remodeling, monitor network operations, or access pricing and account data in the field impaired decision-making and slowed operations.
The bank issued BlackBerry smartphones to executives and branch staff, enabling mobile email, BBM, intranet access, camera-based site reporting, and apps such as Bloomberg Anywhere, Cortado (pilot) and WhatsUp Gold for network monitoring, with remote-wipe security controls. As a result communication and collaboration improved, decisions and deal closures sped up, field supervision and vendor issue resolution became almost real-time, and IT could respond quickly to system problems—driving higher productivity and broader rollout of mobile applications.
