Corporate guarding company increases security efficiency and cost savings through BlackBerry support

JC Security is a South African corporate guarding company of about 1,600 employees that provides industrial and corporate risk-management services and aims to meet international standards. With many staff distributed across on-site locations and roughly 800 guards on shift at any time, the company needed a reliable mobility-management solution for seamless, instant communication to coordinate incidents, share images and support growth in technology capabilities.

BlackBerry deployed BlackBerry Enterprise Service 5 and 350 BlackBerry devices (plus BBM and a mobile data system), enabling critical email, instant messaging and in-house app development — including a barcode-based “Check In” app that tracks guards and sends emergency requests. The rollout cut response times, improved operational efficiency and reduced robbery-related losses, saving JC Security close to 650,000 ZAR in one year.
