Novacom Wireless Communications, a small communications provider in southern Illinois that designs, builds and services 911 systems and in-vehicle communications for police, fire and medical services, needed reliable mobile tools for constant on-call support, complex remote troubleshooting and employee safety when technicians work in hazardous or remote locations. The company required a way to collaborate in real time across dispersed teams and ensure timely, accurate service reporting and billing.
Novacom outfitted staff with BlackBerry 10 smartphones and used BBM Video, BBM Groups and the Box app to enable live video troubleshooting, centralized on-call scheduling and instant submission of service reports. The result: faster issue resolution, reduced labor costs (avoiding unnecessary travel), improved billing accuracy and timeliness, and better visibility into technician locations and safety.
