Blackberry Solution Helps Colombian Bank Improve Employee Communication And Service To Customers

Bancolombia, a Colombian financial services group with more than 130 years of history and over 7 million customers, struggled with delayed approvals and limited interdepartmental communication because executives and sales staff were frequently away from desktop email. The bank also needed a secure mobile channel to deliver timely financial-market data and basic banking services to corporate clients and investors.

To address this, Bancolombia rolled out BlackBerry smartphones to more than 2,200 employees across 800 branches, implemented BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BBM, and launched the Bancolombia App (developed with TODO1) for mobile banking and market information. The solution enabled remote approvals and calendar access, improved staff productivity and communication, gave customers up‑to‑the‑minute market data and basic transaction capabilities, and generated more than 104,000 app downloads, allowing branches to focus on higher‑value services.
