A BlackBerry Case Study
ITOCHU, one of Japan’s largest general trading companies with over 4,300 employees and operations in 63 countries, needed to reform long working hours by enabling productive work outside the office under a new “morning-focused” system. As it moved to Microsoft Exchange and Office 365, the company faced challenges securing and managing a wide range of employee devices (BYOD) while protecting sensitive customer and contract data.
ITOCHU adopted the BlackBerry Enterprise Mobility Suite (UEM, Work, Dynamics), upgraded to the Application Edition, and built custom Xamarin apps to enable secure mobile workflows. The platform drove rapid user adoption (from under 1,000 to about 3,600 users), improved productivity and work–life balance, allowed large-scale, low-touch device deployment, and reduced IT support needs while keeping corporate data protected.
