Case Study: BlackBerry achieves improved employee safety and a 90% crisis-response rate with BlackBerry AtHoc

A BlackBerry AtHoc Case Study

Preview of the BlackBerry Case Study

From Natural Disasters to Human Attackers, BlackBerry Uses AtHoc to Keep Its People out of Harm’s Way

BlackBerry, a global security software company, needed a more reliable way to protect employees and maintain operations across its worldwide sites from natural disasters, violent incidents, and service outages. Early reliance on a crisis hotline, email and NOC-driven notifications left gaps in visibility and local decision-making, so the company built local incident teams and sought a scalable, two-way crisis communications solution.

BlackBerry adopted its own AtHoc platform (AtHoc Alert and AtHoc Account), rolled out targeted multi‑channel alerts, traveler check-ins and mapping, and ran a global Alert Challenge that raised internal response rates from 63% to 90%. The result: faster, more precise notifications, quicker staff accounting and coordinated incident response with the NOC, improving employee safety and business continuity.
