A Blackbaud Case Study
The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), which runs the Bronx Zoo and New York Aquarium and advances global conservation through science and education, faced nearly 50% proposed budget cuts at both the state and city levels that threatened exhibits, jobs and education programs. WCS needed to rapidly mobilize constituents to persuade the governor, mayor and elected officials of the institutions’ economic and community value.
WCS used Blackbaud’s Luminate platform to run two targeted online advocacy campaigns, combining multi-email sequences, social media and in-park petition collection to reach and engage New York constituents. The effort generated more than 130,000 messages to officials, recruited roughly 30,000 new constituents, and helped restore $3,378,451 in city funding and $4,500,000 in state funding—while improving segmentation, tracking and real-time campaign responsiveness.
