Volunteers of America (VOA), a national human service organization with chartered affiliates serving over a million people annually, needed a modern fundraising and relationship-management platform that would deliver better donor insights while preserving each affiliate’s independence and data security. Gaining affiliate buy-in and providing consistent training were key challenges as offices considered moving off a legacy CRM.
VOA’s national office led a coordinated adoption of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT—ultimately shared by 26 affiliates—with Blackbaud University training, a group of “super users,” and a national subscription supporting 150+ users. The shared solution lowered costs, freed local staff for higher‑level strategy, enabled rapid pivots to virtual peer-to-peer events during COVID, and delivered measurable gains: affiliates using Loyalty Insights reported double‑digit fundraising growth.
