Virginia Theological Seminary - Customer Case Study

Virginia Theological Seminary, a racially and culturally diverse Episcopal seminary of about 220 students (half in the Master of Divinity program), relied on paper applications and manual processes that made enrollment and admissions slow and cumbersome—application cycles could take up to a month and staff couldn’t provide a fully modern student experience.

By adopting Blackbaud’s cloud-based education management suite (enrollment, student information, learning, billing, and related tools), the Seminary moved applications and records online, cut application turnaround from as long as a month to as little as a week, enabled remote admissions during COVID-19, and created an auto-populated intranet and directories. Staff now run billing, reporting, and list-building more efficiently, and students have clearer degree progress tracking and more ownership over completion.
