A Blackbaud Case Study
The University of Delaware, a large state-assisted research university, needed to move from anecdotal, siloed fundraising decisions to a common, data-driven approach across its roughly 100-person Division of Development and Alumni Relations. Data lived primarily with the reporting team, benchmarking was inconsistent, and staff lacked easy, shared access to prospect and performance information.
The university implemented Blackbaud Fundraiser Performance Management, created a director of donor insights role, and partnered with a dedicated Blackbaud consultant to democratize analytics, standardize reporting and benchmarking, and train staff. The shift produced dramatic results: a 247% increase in qualified prospects, 24% more proposals of $25K+, a 46% increase in closed $25K+ gifts, 22% more donors, and a 43% increase in fundraising dollars.
