The University of California, San Diego, a nationally ranked public research university with a large and diverse alumni base, struggled to keep graduates engaged and increase annual fund participation using traditional direct mail alone. UCSD needed more frequent, cost-effective touchpoints to raise awareness and drive donations while protecting fundraising ROI.
UCSD piloted Target Analytics’ Connection360 to expand direct-mail files into a coordinated multi-channel campaign, matching donors online to deliver targeted messaging across thousands of sites. The test reached 57% of the direct-mail audience, produced about 2 million impressions, generated 24% of campaign revenue from previously unresponsive alumni, and achieved a 7.5:1 ROI.
