Umpqua Bank - Customer Case Study

Oregon-based Umpqua Bank needed to support customers across its five-state region and quickly retool its social responsibility efforts when COVID-19 hit. The challenge was to identify urgent community needs, transition staff to remote work, provide customer relief resources, and create meaningful, safe ways for employees to give and volunteer.

Using Blackbaud’s YourCause, Umpqua expanded its employee giving—increasing the company match from 1:1 to 3:1—rotated featured charities focused on immediate needs (COVID response, food access, small business and childcare support), and launched virtual volunteering. Within two weeks partners posted 25 virtual opportunities and employees sewed masks, handled data entry, hosted financial workshops and more; the responsive platform enabled a rapid rollout that significantly amplified the bank’s community impact.
