Case Study: SEFCU achieves measurable community impact and streamlined grantmaking with Blackbaud

A Blackbaud Case Study

Preview of the SEFCU Case Study

Tracking total contributions to the community through grantmaking, employee giving, and employee volunteering

SEFCU, a top-50 U.S. credit union whose mission is to “change lives every day,” needed a way to manage hundreds of annual grant requests and measure the total impact of its philanthropy — including donations, volunteer hours, and in-kind gifts — across four focus areas (veterans, youth, family health, and capacity building). The challenge was to move beyond dollar totals and create a reliable scorecard for outcomes and community impact.

SEFCU implemented Blackbaud’s Grantmaking and employee giving/volunteering tools to automate the funding workflow, collect outcomes metrics, provide applicant feedback, and track volunteer sign-ups and hours. As a result, the credit union can quantify lives changed, tell its philanthropic story with outcome-based evidence, streamline grant administration, and hold itself accountable to its mission.
