A Blackbaud Case Study
The University of Kansas Health System needed to rebuild its grateful patient fundraising after an initial in-house effort “crumbled.” As a large, multi-site academic health system with a growing major gifts program, it lacked a sustainable, HIPAA-compliant process and the technology to reliably identify high-potential patient prospects for major and planned gifts.
Working with Blackbaud—using the Grateful Patient Solution, ResearchPoint, and Raiser’s Edge NXT—the health system automated daily inpatient reporting, pre-screened and segmented prospects, and synced secure research data to assign solicitors and track outreach. In the first three years the program produced 1,267 new patient prospects, yielded a $1.1 million planned gift commitment from one donor, and prompted the hiring of three development directors to expand grateful patient fundraising.
