A Blackbaud Case Study
SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young, founded in 2001 by Taro Alexander, provides performing arts programs, speech therapy, an overnight summer camp, and resources for kids who stutter. When COVID-19 forced SAY to postpone its New York spring gala, the organization had to quickly reimagine its signature fundraiser to maintain community connection and revenue.
SAY produced Under One Moon, a live virtual benefit that combined a telethon-style livestream with peer-to-peer fundraising using JustGiving from Blackbaud, integrated with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT and Blackbaud Merchant Services. The event featured kid performances and celebrity cameos, generated almost $250,000 (more than $100,000 online), attracted more than 200 online donations with 65% from new donors, and saved staff hours by automatically importing gifts into Raiser’s Edge NXT.
